Darcy Collins, LCSW-R

Brain and body aligned to help you feel better.

We’re two mountain climbers struggling on the journey. I just happen to be in a different position and can see your mountain from an objective perspective.

I offer an outsider perspective and experience witnessing the various forms human suffering can take. It felt powerless to witness this earlier in life so I knew that being a therapist was going to be my vocational path. After a few other twists and turns, here I am. I’ve dedicated myself to observing and understanding human suffering and how to guide fellow humans that want to change this pattern. In my career, I’ve had the opportunity to sit with hundreds of different people and see the role our own human minds play in our suffering. I’ve spent the last twelve years tirelessly learning many methods to alleviate this suffering. I hope to have the opportunity to meet you, understand what matters to you and help guide you to choose your own suffering (because it’s going to be there anyway). I don’t know it all (and if I forget, my kids will always remind me just how much I don’t know), though together we will help guide your brain to find its own answers.

When I’m not in my therapist role you might find me hanging with my family, adventuring outside, with a guitar in my hands or on a stage somewhere.

What’s it like to work with me?

Working with me has been described as supportive, compassionate, validating, humorous and attentive. Despite the positive feedback, I’ve not been everyone’s cup of tea so we’ll ensure that we are a fit before getting into the heavy lifting. I’ll listen to your story with a focus on hearing those avoidable suffering points that you may be missing on your own. I’ll often propose experiments to take what we’re working on and actually apply it in real life. Irreverent humor may occur. I’ll frequently remind you of your “humanness.” I might suggest some kindness toward yourself for a change. I’ll often ask “what do we want to accomplish today?” Overall, I aim to create a space that helps you move toward what matters.

Where to find me?

My office is located near the Blossom Rd/Creek St intersection of Browncroft Blvd. Your easiest landmark will be the Advantage Federal Credit Union (the office building is literally right behind it). The building is fully accessible and you will find a separate, comfortable waiting area. If you would like to use video, you will receive a reminder link by text/email prior to our appointment that will direct you to the secure video office.
